We are Southern Blood Services
Southern Blood Services is a specialty plasma center which collects high-quality antibody enriched plasma that is processed into life-saving plasma-based therapies. Our primary focus is collection of these antibodies from individuals who have developed them from pregnancy, blood transfusions or from vaccines.
Our plasma is used to manufacture life-saving drugs such as Rho(D) Immune Globulin which is used to save the lives of babies whose blood types are incompatible with their mothers (Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn), Anti-Rabies to prevent rabies after exposure to the rabies virus, and Anti-Hepatitis B to prevent hepatitis B after exposure to the hepatitis B virus. Our Red Cell Antibodies are used to manufacture antisera to determine blood types to ensure transfusing blood and organ compatibility.
Southern Blood Services founded in 1999, operates three plasma collection facilities in Birmingham, Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Nashville, Tennessee. The participants in our donor program are located throughout the United States.
